After listening to our customers, we now have a larger size of jar available. It is of course jammed full of our gorgeous yelllow/orange calendula ointment which is made from 100% organic ingredients.
I use the calendula macerated in sunflower oil a lot in my aromatherapy practice often blended with other carrier oils and essential oils. The calendula macerate is the main ingredient in my ointment. It is really helpful for lots of skin issues – it calms an inflamed skin such as rashes & sunburn Cracked and damaged skin can respond well to treatment with calendula. Eczema and psoriasis pro
ne skin can be extremely difficult conditions to manage, but often I have had customers report good benefits with using calendula.

I have been lucky enough this year to get some beautiful calendula flower heads from organic farmer, John Fraser ,from Aberdeenshire, Scotland. I am preparing them for macerating the petals in organic sunflower.
They are just a stunning colour and brimming full of lovely summer goodness. I know they will make a fantastic macerate for using in my calendula ointment – hopefully the final macerate will be a rich orange colour – I can’t wait to see.

At the start of the comfrey harvest 2014, we shot a little video to show you how untouched and rural the area in Aberdeenshire, Scotland is where we harvest the comfrey leaves each year to make our comfrey oil macerate. We then use the comfrey oil as a main ingredient in our comfrey ointment, gardener’s hand balm, herbal foot balm and the reflexology balm along with organic carrier, essential oils and beeswax.

We are delighted to announce that the first batches of the fresh new comfrey oil macerate from the 2014 harvest is ready to buy now.
It has been a fairly quick harvest season this year, and I love the quality of this macerate.
It is so green and full of goodness, which bodes extremely well for all the existing products that we use comfrey in – Comfrey Ointment, Gardener’s Hand Balm, Reflexology Foot Balm and Herbal Foot Balm.
PLUS a new exciting product that I am in the process of developing – more news on that very soon.

Comfrey plant May 2014
The comfrey harvest is going well this year, we have had a few days with the crop gathering and harvesting the comfrey leaves. This is done by hand, collecting only the best leaves, harvested at the optimum time – dry and using the younger plants. This happens in stages, mainly due to the fluctuating weather here (although we can’t complain too much this year!) and also the plants grow in some slightly different places – some are more up to the sun than others, and so they are ready first and the more shaded parts are harvested later

A massive thank you to everyone at Roots, Fruits and Flowers in Glasgow. The Owner Garth, Manager Lynsey, the staff, and the customers made it a really fab day on Saturday.
I talked to so many interesting people, who had come to Glasgow from all over the world.
It is truly a cosmopolitan city, and its citizens clearly do love to shop and eat at Roots, Fruits and Flowers and I can certainly understand why. (more…)

It was a great day at Whitmuir The Organic Place on Saturday. Brilliant to meet all their customers. I took lots of samples of my luxurious organic soap, for folk to take home and try. The staff on duty, Pam and Cathy, made me so welcome and it was great to meet owner Pete (Heather was away for the day). I am so delighted that their customers are enjoying my products.

With the milder winter and current weather the comfrey plants are really lush and coming on really well, it looks like it could be an earlier harvest. No competition with last year as it was so cold at the beginning of 2013 here that the harvest was the latest that I have seen it. We didn’t get finished until end of June. Every week it was a case of almost there – almost there….. Signs are that its certainly not going to be like that for comfrey harvest 2014
